Alternatives To The Walkolution

The Walkolution treadmill has excellent performance and innovative design. However, there are a few characteristics that may not suit every setup or user preference (find an in-depth review here).

  1. The cost: The Walkolution 2 is positioned in the premium price segment at around €2800, which represents a significant investment.
  2. Storage: Unlike many electric walking pads, the Walkolution 2 cannot be stored upright against a wall. Thus it requires a dedicated space within the home office.
  3. The height: The Walkolution raises the standing height by about 21 cm, which can require adjustments to standard standing desks.
  4. The weight: Weighing around 41.5 kg, the Walkolution 2 is not equipped with wheels, which makes moving it more demanding.

Office Walker – The Walkolution Alternative

Finding suitable alternatives to the Walkolution is difficult. That’s why we’re developing a new manual walking pad to fit seamlessly into existing home office setups.

This new walking pad is designed to be compact, with a length of 114cm, making it comparable in size to electric walking pads. It features a generous walking area of 54cm, providing ample space for comfortable use.

Weighing approximately 25 kg, the Office Walker is significantly lighter than the Walkolution 2 with its 41.5 kg. Equipped with integrated wheels, it can be moved easily within the workspace and positioned wherever needed. It can also be stored upright against a wall or placed on its side, making it highly space-efficient and an ideal choice for compact or flexible home office setups.

Other Walkolution Alternatives

Another alternative is the SB Fitness CT250.

However, there are limitations to this option. The SB Fitness CT250 is available mainly in the U.S. market and offers a different design and build approach compared to the Walkolution.

A notable drawback of the SB Fitness CT250 is its handlebars, which need to be detached to fit the treadmill under a desk.

  1. Hey, you mention you’re developing an alternative? Could you please elaborate a bit on that development? It looks and sounds good! Do you sell them? Live in Denmark. Thanks!

    • Hey, thanks for the comment. Yes, we’re currently designing and building the first model. The plan is to get that ready by the end of the month. After that we’ll start small serial production and maybe a kickstarter.

  2. This sounds great! I was looking into getting a Walkolution but they are quite expensive, and I wasn’t sure if I’d be investing in something I would use frequently enough. Also, would you consider having a model with a folding handrail and wheels on the front of your product? That way people can feel secure when running on it and can also easily move the pad from space to space with the wheels 🙌🏼

    • Thanks! We haven’t considered handrails yet but that’s a great idea for the future. For the first model we’ll likely keep it simple but might add it to v2.

  3. Hi ! I am so interested in your walking pad project I can’t wait for updates 🙂
Do you have any more info to give us? release dates, price range, where to buy…will you be creating an Instagram account with pictures and videos?
Sorry for the impatience, but manual and compact walking pads are so rare on the market, your product is exactly what I’m looking for!
    Best regards from France

    • Hi Cecilia, I’ll have updates for you soon. Release is targeted for November or December this year. Regarding the price range it’ll be likely between 1000-2000 Euro. Maybe even less depending on some developments. I’ll keep you updated

  5. I’m excited by the idea of this product, and jumped on the email list!

    A few questions:
The walking space will be around 110 cm x 55 cm?

What type of warranty do you plan on including with the product (after all that is one of the main selling points of the Walkolution) (of course this is a bit interesting at the moment, especially given the CEO of Walkolution’s recent conduct on Reddit)?

Do you anticipate building it sturdy enough that people could run on it / what weight limit do you envision for the product (don’t think I’ll hit that, but indicates a bit how you’re building it)?

  6. Hi, is there any update on when this will be available? I’m looking to buy from Canada

    • We’re getting closer to being production ready. But there are still a few things to improve. We’re going into the third prototype iteration now but I still can’t say for sure if that’ll be sufficient to launch the product. Sorry I can’t provide a more definitive answer.

  7. Hi,

    Will you ship to Europe?

Do you think it will be available for purchase this year?

Will it be possible to run on it?

    Thanks in advance.

    • Hey Walid, thanks for your comment. We’re in Berlin, Germany so we will definitely ship all European countries. We’re currently preparing a Kickstarter campaign so my estimate is that we will start shipping towards the end of the year. The walking pad is only about 115cm long so it’s not made for running fast. It is possible to run on it at least slowly as you can see in this video: https://youtube.com/shorts/th0YT1U2m2k

  8. And also : What will be the dimensions and weight compared to the Walkolution 2?

    Thanks in advance

    • The length is comparable to the Walkolution 2 but it’s around 6cm lower (which is very handy for standing desks) and only 55cm wide. At the same time the walking area is 47cm while the W2 only has 40cm. The wight of the Office Walker is a lot lower with around 25kg compared to 41.5kg of the W2. You can also easily move it around via the wheels at the front and store it upright against the wall.

  9. Can this be stored on its side leaning against a wall (or vertically leaning against a wall) if i have limited space?

    • Sorry for the late reply. It can be stored upright against a wall or on its side. When its on the side it doesn’t need to lean against a wall, it stands on its own. So that’s perfect if your desk is wide enough to fit a chair next to it.
